Giant clams, (tridacna gigas) inhabit the oceans of the Pacific and Indian Oceans and have a lifespan of over 100 years. The layers, built up over the course of many years, make the shells very heavy and can be difficult to date precisely. This antique clam shell, from a private collection, is in good condition. There are two minor chips to the edge, these do not detract
