初めて東京に来たのは1998年、スケートボード・ツアーに参加したためだった。その後、2001年には２回訪れていて、１回目は「無題2001」という23区全体規模の大きな展覧会のため、２回目はやはりスケートボードのツアーのためだった。これら最初の３回は、スケートボードをしているとき以外はとにかく大いに路上を歩き、さまよい、撮影した。そして2016年、久々に旅行者として東京に来た。こうした最近の旅では、東京の人々の生活やリズムを観察し撮影することに、以前よりも集中している。東京で、人間の存在そのものや暮らしの中の習慣や風俗が露わになるような瞬間を見つけるのが好きなのだ。
