Saggar Fired Ceramic Head with Sticks workshop Approximate size: 5Emma Harding's Saggar Fired Ceramics are handmade using found or recycled clay. Pieces are coated with a fine slip and fired once at 1020 degrees. After firing they are wrapped in organic materials including banana skins, seaweed, wire wool and copper wire. Each piece is then fired again at 900 degrees inside a ceramic 'saggar'. The organic materials combust inside the restricted space and create inspiring colours and textures on the ceramics.
